THE Gluten Free Orange Chicken
Per request, here is THE #gf orange chicken (it’s also #rsf & #soyfree but ~no one’s gonna know~) #ChefBae
Ingredients
For the Crispy Chicken:
- 4 Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts cut into bite-size pieces
- 6 Eggs whisked
- 1/2 cup Cornstarch
- 1/2 cup GF 1-1 Flour
- 1/2 tsp Sea Salt
- Pinch Black Pepper
- Avocado Oil for frying
For the Orange Chicken Sauce:
- 2 cups Orange Juice
- 1 cup Muscovado Sugar
- 1/4 cup Rice Vinegar
- 1/4 cup Coconut Aminos
- 1/4 teaspoon Ginger
- 4 Garlic Cloves minced
- 1 tsp Red Chili diced
- Orange Zest from 1 orange
- 2 Tablespoons Cornstarch
- Sesame Seeds for topping
- Cauliflower Rice or Regular Rice for serving
Instructions
- For the Orange Sauce:
- In a medium pot, whisk all sauce ingredients minus the corn starch. Bring to a quick boil, whisk and let simmer.
- In a small bowl, whisk corn starch and 1/4 of water. Add to the sauce mixture and let simmer for 7-8 minutes until thickened.
- For the Chicken:
- Whisk dry ingredients in a small bowl. Whisk eggs in a second small bowl.
- Dip chicken pieces in the flour, then egg and then back into the flour mixture. Place on plate.
- In a large pan with high walls, heat the avocado oil on medium high heat. If the oil splatters, it’s too hot. Do not leave the oil unattended.
- Fry the chicken bites until golden and crispy Place chicken on a paper-towel-lined plate.In another skillet or bowl, mix the chicken with orange sauce.
- Sprinkle the chicken with sesame seeds and scallions. Serve with cauliflower rice or regular rice!
